Social care doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves, and this makes moving into a care setting a difficult decision. But avoiding going into a care setting purely because of the stigma associated with social care can be catastrophic; a person might not get the appropriate support or care at home to keep them safe. This could result in falls, illness, infection, malnutrition, dehydration, wounds and more. Sometimes people being cared for at home, for the sake of staying at home, can bounce in and out of hospital, avoidably consuming NHS resources.
