
Maybe the solution is in fact to junk the industrialised ‘beds’ and ‘visits’ sheep-dip model of commissioning and delivering care around which current workforce thinking is organised? What if instead we focused on aligning the interests and motivations of people who draw on and who do or might enjoy working in social care? What if, rather than trying to mimic the NHS, instead we set our sites on nurturing and growing people-centred, relational, neighbourhood level ecosystems of support, based on self-managing teams that bring together people with a whole range of hard and soft skills, blending formal and informal sources of support and relationships and expanding autonomy and social and economic wellbeing for all?
