
“Christmas doesn’t seem that fun when you have to risk assess the decorations and festivities, but that’s par for the course in a nursing home. Visiting logistics can be a nightmare, trees are falls hazards, baubles are a choking risk, everyone seems to have different dietary needs and now, entertainment can be cancelled if there is a suspicion that someone has Covid. And that’s not even taking into account the team members moaning about having to work over Christmas and trying to get sick notes arranged that fall into the 23rd December – 3rd January timescale.
It’s all par for the course for Christmas in a care home. But it’s also an incredible, magical time….”
